Shape Careers was co-founded by Stephen Drew in 2014 to recruit for architecture and design practices. Stephen worked as Recruitment Director until 2016, bringing first-hand experience of practice into recruitment.

04 · The story
Recruitment with an inside view.
Before recruitment, Stephen trained in architecture and spent three years working at EPR Architects. Shape Careers was one of the first places he tested a simple idea: people working in architecture deserved recruiters who understood the profession from the inside.
05 · Where it led
One chapter widened into a longer mission.
After Shape Careers came Profile Careers, senior architecture recruitment roles and, in 2020, Architecture Social. Each chapter widened the same mission: help people and practices make better career and hiring decisions.

06 · About Stephen
Architecture, recruitment, community.
Stephen Drew is a Part II Architectural Assistant who moved into architecture recruitment in 2014. His path has included working at EPR Architects, leading architecture recruitment at Macdonald & Company, mentoring postgraduate architecture students and contributing to RIBA groups. He is the founder of Architecture Social, an Architects Benevolent Society Ambassador, FRSA and MREC.
